Carter County Community Foundation awards grants

The Carter County Community Foundation (CCCF) recently announced this year's grant recipients.

The ambulance fund at Dahl Memorial Healthcare received $3,800 to help purchase a basket stretcher for rough country rescues. The grant will also partially fund a power load for aiding EMTs getting patients into and out of the ambulances.

Carter County Geological Society received $2,900 for summer youth programming. The 2020 Junior Scientists Program will focus on earth sciences, paleontology and astronomy. It has been tentative scheduled to run from mid-June until mid-August. Steve Hobe will again be heading the program.

Ekalaka Library received $1,400 to aid in purchasing a new computer.

The music department at Ekalaka Public Schools received $1,400 to help purchase and maintain music instruments.

CCCF is a local affiliate of the Montana Community Foundation (MCF). Funding for grants comes from earnings of a permanent endowment administered by MCF. Current board members of the Carter County Community Foundation are Llane Carroll, Marlene Waterland, Lora Tauck and Candy Loehding.

Previous recipients of CCCF grants in 2014 were the local Food Bank ($500), Carter County Senior Citizen Center ($500 for a freezer), Ekalaka Library ($2,500 for an outside book drop and books) and Carter County Geological Society ($1,000 for exhibit preservation).

Recipients in 2013 were Ekalaka Library ($1,000 for tables), Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department ($1,500 for gloves and boots) and Carter County Geological Society ($1,500 for plexiglass used in displaying exhibits).
